Over the years the team has built strong working relationships with clients, knowing the complexities of live operations. We have a clear mission to help save lives and support the decision making of the emergency service using software. Many of our clients are risking their lives daily, in a wide variety of ways, to help keep others safe. As a team we have a heightened duty to respect the trust which they place in both our products and us as individuals. William Moore

William Moore Chief Executive Officer & Co-founder

William is co-founder and CEO of Airbox Systems, with more than thirteen years of entrepreneurial experience in situational awareness provision. Having studied Engineering at Bristol University William founded his first business at 21 specialising in the supply of fixed wing aircraft parts. Airbox was born in 2008 as a solution to navigation for private pilots, the system was quickly taken up by medical response helicopters with Dorset Air Ambulance leading the way. By 2011 the expansion into the emergency services sector was a defining the future of Airbox. With a focus on innovation, safety and the highest level of customer service, Airbox became one of the leading providers of situational awareness amongst the emergency services.

The focus now was to connect air and ground responders and create a clear operating picture that brought the emergency services together. William’s strong leadership has enabled the business to support more than 75,000 emergency services operations annually across the UK, his extensive experience in assessing the technological needs of customers and translating goals into software has provided a strong foundation for a connected operational picture.

The passion of Airbox is to protect life through enabling informed decisions, and providing the right information to responders to help protect life. People make good decisions when they have good information, Airbox delivers situational awareness software for complex and demanding environments. Our customers are people for whom safety and effectiveness in the field are paramount.

Gerry Hill MBE QGM + BAR

Gerry Hill MBE QGM + BAR Director and Co-founder

Gerry has been involved with Airbox since leaving the Armed Forces 11 years ago. He is a Director alongside William Moore, the CEO of the company. Gerry spent 45 years in the Armed Forces, all with specialist units, the majority of which were with 22 SAS Regiment where he spent 34 years. During this period, he saw service in major conflicts: Northern Ireland, the Falkland Islands, the Balkans, the Middle East and Afghanistan as well as being deployed in a number of other countries where there was British interest.

Many of the positions he held throughout his career, especially whilst serving with 22 SAS Regiment have particular relevance to the role he undertakes at Airbox today. He previously worked extensively with the Emergency Services though particularly with the police where, as befitted someone of his rank and experience he planned, prepared and ran training and operations within the counter-terrorism arena. He also worked and operated with a number of Other Government Departments.

Whilst serving, Gerry received four gallantry awards - two Queen’s Gallantry Medals (QGM) and two Mention in Dispatches (MID), a Commander in Chief Commendation (CINC) for valuable service as well as being created a Member of the British Empire (MBE).

Gerry is also the CEO of a military charity called Hire A Hero – a charity he set up on leaving the Armed Forces and which he still runs today. Its focus lies in supporting Service Personnel on their transition from Service to Civilian life.

Joanna Mower

Jo joined Airbox in 2021 as COO, sitting on the Board and heading up the Executive team. Her background spans business finance in both private and public sectors, focussing on the technology industry, helping drive scale and realise ambitions. Prior to this, she was Private Secretary in the Dept for Business, Energy & Industrial Strategy.

Jo brings significant experience in establishing company infrastructure - spanning people, technology, policy and regulatory compliance, and assumes responsibility for ensuring Airbox’s delivery meets customers’ demands, and the strategic goals of the business.

Steve Gilroy

Steve Gilroy Interim Chairperson

Steve Gilroy is an accomplished Non-Executive Director, board facilitator, and certified scaling up coach with over 40 years of diverse business leadership experience. From founding his first business at the age of 21 to holding pivotal roles as CEO, MD, General Manager, and International VP, Steve has mastered the art of steering companies towards substantial and sustainable growth.

Steve has led companies ranging in size from start-up through to £100m and has been involved in diverse businesses from early-stage technology firms to several global organisations. Steve is a forward-looking visionary and a master of practical strategy execution. He has initiated and led significant change, growth, acquisition and exit programmes and has a track record for implementing crystal-clear business plans that achieve significant and sustainable growth.

Steve's extensive career encompasses developing technical documentation and training packages for IT and process control industries across the UK, Middle East, and Europe. His work has seen him design and run workshops globally for several IT vendors, contributing to his robust repertoire of leadership and growth methodologies. He has been instrumental in driving significant change, overseeing acquisition and exit strategies, and fostering international partnerships, which have culminated in successful business transformations.

Steve has been a long time board advisor for Airbox and has served as Interim Chair since 2024. With his ability to craft inspiring visions and deliver practical strategies, Steve continues to guide the company towards achieving its ambitions with clarity and precision.

Steve Killick

Tactical Director

Steve Killick Tactical Director

Steve Killick has served as Airbox’s Tactical Director since 2024, bringing with him a distinguished 38-year career in the Armed Forces, of which 28 were with the UK Special Forces. Throughout his extensive military tenure, Steve was deployed globally, participating in operations across Northern Ireland, the Balkans, Iraq, the Middle East, the Levant, North and East Africa, Afghanistan, and the United States.

During his service, Steve achieved the rank of Lieutenant Colonel and was recognized for his exceptional leadership and service. He has been awarded numerous campaign medals, a Joint Commander’s Commendation for Distinguished Service, and in 2017, he was appointed a Member of the Order of the British Empire. His final appointment before retiring in 2024 also earned him the US Defense Meritorious Service Medal.

Steve’s career has not only been marked by his leadership in high-stakes environments but also by his ability to foster close working relationships with international militaries, UK Emergency Services, and other UK government departments.

His first encounter with Airbox was in 2018 while commanding a military Counter-Terrorist Unit. Impressed by Airbox’s impact on operational decision-making, Steve grew a profound appreciation for the company’s personnel and products.

Now in a commercial role within Airbox, Steve remains driven by the same ethos of service and ethical responsibility that marked his military career. As Tactical Director, he leverages his vast operational experience and strategic insight to contribute significantly to Airbox’s mission and objectives. Steve is committed to continuing his record of excellence and innovation, ensuring Airbox remains at the forefront of operational information sharing and decision support.
